smoker's nightmare...SM Mohamed Idris !

And we have morons and then we have IDIOTS ! Today we have S.M. Mohamed Idris. (pic.) And I want to come to the defense of smokers !

Yes the call for fixing the price of cigarette packets at RM 30.00 per packet by a stupid man who claims to head the consumer's association of Penang thinks smoking is a social problem! He has not heard of "mat & minah-rempits" and drug addicts who snatch bags I'd guess ! ( read here )

Does he know the millions of ringgit as loans awarded by the government to tobacco farmers both here in the peninsular and in the East Malaysia ? If smoking is sooooo so bad then why does the government of the day grant the loans in the first place ? How many of the farmers depend on smokers to put food on the table and send their children to school huh ? How about repayments of that loan ? How many of our parliamentarians smoke ? Opps...sorry....our parliamentarians chomp on expansive, branded and imported cigars that are hand-rolled on the thighs of and by 80 year old virgins in Cuba !

Excise tax duties from cigarettes alone help maintain so many government ministries stay afloat and this president of CAP is supposed to protect the rights, rising costs and choices of the citizenry and what does he do but put more hardship on the lower and average "cigarette dependent" and tax-paying citizens who have a habit to smoke ! Next he'll go for the price of beers, yes ?Alternatively the ganga trade will flourish !

There is just so much hypocrisy and double standards in the government. One ministry offers loans to tobacco farmers, then another ministry spends millions campaigning "anti-smoking" efforts, another ministry collects millions as revenues from taxes of the consumers who smoke and yet another ministry welcomes foreign cigarette companies to set-up businesses here. And another ministry to collect millions by putting traumatic and gory photographs on cigarette packets and make a "killing" by monopolising the market producing these packets. Typical crony action at it's best and at work here !

Now tell me why would millions of ringgits be spent both by the government and foreign cigarette companies as investments in this country, not to mention advertising revenue for healthy sports for this "preacher" to prophesies the dangers of smoking ? It is a fundamental and constitutional right of an adult individual to choose as he pleases ! And we don't need any from you, Mr. SM Mohamed Idris ! Get it ? Go for the retailers who sell cigarettes to the kids, okay ? You want to stop anyone from smoking go find out how many in your family are smokers first be it cigarettes or marijuana !

Sheeesh....the gall of this moron just to get some cheap attention for his waning popularity ! There's one born every day in Malaysia !
.......now excuse me while I light-up !

As the head of CAP he should go after those who endanger comsumers by using illegal ingredients especially in processed food. He should not just report these danger in his magazine but make more effort to bring these culprits to justice. Adults who smoke is their choice.

I always have Idris in high regard. but his idiosyncratic views on smoking have stretched the imagination. This time he has inducted himself into the pantheon of the ridiculous. Be that as it may, I have increased my cigarete intake from three packets to four. Any objections, Idris?

Bro,

If you want to rebutt (pun intended) go ahead. But don't whack the messenger. I know nicotine deficiency addles the brains, but lets not get personal.

No 2, just because the govt supports something doesn't mean it is good. Especially since you yourself said that govt actions re this weed are contradictory.

Our govt practices the ISA, you know, detention without trial so you can smoke away behind closed doors? So should we all support it too? Especially since it provides employment to countless faceless politicians and civil servants, not to mention those guards in Kamunting? They have families to support, too.

No 3. The industry supports some families here and there. But the cost to the rest of the nation is extremely high as they too have to foot the bill of people hacking out their lungs in public hospitals.

No 4. Someone said that a cigarette is a fire at one end and a fool at the other. How true. And smokers are amongst the most inconsiderate people we can find, having no regard to the health and comfort of the people around them.

So, whatever the reasons, and whoever the messenger, the faster we kill off this habit the better for all.

I can almost hear the clicks of lighters as smokers furiously light up ready to put a fire to my butt. But who cares. Words are nothing compared to the obnoxious stink you get when, on what should be a pleasant outing for breakfast or dinner, someone who think its his god-given right to pollute the air decides to sit next to you.

Take care.

You are no better than that moron ...not going after the root of the evil but going after the end-users ! If there is no systemic funding by the government would you fault the producers and consumers ? Guess it would be too deep for a simpleton like you to figure, yes ? Sheeeesh !! Another one is born now.....that's you anon ! My sympathies !

I urge the people to defy the stupid government and its draconian laws. Smoking is our choice. Dont tell us to stop smoking, you bastards. I therefore urge the people to increase their cigarette intake in defiance of the corrupt BN government. Smoke more, hallelujuah.

Smokers are great contributors to the economy.

They keep the industry thriving from farmers,to doctors and the funeral directors.

The more they smoke, the more the economy moves.

It's their lungs, err, so let them smokers burn it.

Look at the good side, the higher the cost for a fix, the better it is for the economy.

There was once a revolution in Maldives because the Government banned ciggys there.

But it makes no difference to non- smokers!

A GOOD MAN DOES NOTHING.

hello Bro, This man is a crusader. Why do you want to crucify him ? He is not gaining anything for himself. He is single handedly advocating what is good and harmful for the sake of society. Please don't accuse him of bleshemy and pass jugement to crucify him.
He has been a lonely voice for almost 30 years on consumer rights. The teh-tarik we consume consist of colouring substance, underage kids should not drink alcoholic beverages ,expired food items should not be relabeled and placed on the racks....etc .PCA is fighting against the odds to get their message across. He is harmless. God bless him. You should seek His forgiveness and pray and support his cause. You don't have to be cruel in order to be kind.
