Many were not even conceived in 1987 and many have kicked the bucket since.

By the way, in this age of 'legal suits', reproducing articles without consent may pave the route to court!

A GOOD MAN DOES NOTHING.

of course I do.

I remember the day after that, star was banned and I missed my spiderman comic strip

my classmate's mother came running to pick up her pretty daughter to go home

Adam Jaafar chose a helluva good time to go to Chow Kit

I rode my bicycle home without mishap, phew

and it herald an awaken in me.....

Why Do Malays Need Alien To Speak For Them?

Bro,
Syed Akbar Ali doesn't publish my comments lately because I am critical of him. would you do the same if I comment against your view ? Of course , you can not expect every reader to accept your point of view. I am one such person who analyse critically all that I read before I comment.I am not beholden to anybody. Keep up your good work.

I still remember the day the star was closed. We in the NST were celebrating because there would be no competition! Many of us were talking about an expected extra bonus. Kadir Jasin, the most hated pseudo journalist in the country, was ecstatic.

I remember.

Was Bureau Chief of The Star in Ipoh then.

On day we had a career, the next day there was nothing to do as the paper was shut. We were paranoid - wondering who would be thrown in next under ISA.

Since there was nothing to do at work we played computer games - and I can tell you the games sucked then.

anon 11:02 and fellow Taipingite,
Sad to know you have temporary or selective memory loss....there's a medical term for this, but don't bother lah....you might still choose to forget the term like some "irrelevents" from the past who dictated this country.
Very sad indeed. The price of char kuih tiaw was 50 cents in 1970 in Taiping not in 1987. Geddit ?

A handful of UMNO men were picked up too and sent to Kamunting.

Talk about being selective.

At least the nation can move on and focus on the economy and develop the country rather than getting social incitations and unproductive politicking

Even better for the chinese, can focus on bigger cake on the economy. hehehe!

Okay, let me recollect another incident which will surely make you puke. The day after the Star was closed, the NST head honchos (You know who they are) held court. A head honcho (you know who he is) said we had to redouble our efforts since we wer the only English daily around. He promised us a big bonus. Can you imagine, promising us all the goodies while a rival paper was shut down and a few thousand Star staff thrown out of their jobs. This bastard (the head honcho of NST) had the cheek to say that NST was now the numero uno. No rivals. This was the most sickest moment of my life. This bastard could still gloat while hie fellow-journalists were wondering how they could put food on the table. This is a real bastard.
