Now we've sent a man into orbit...what next ?

Yeees ! We are finally a "outer-space travelling nation" ! We are way up there in our region when it comes to being "first" ! I must say "kudos" to our angkasawan Dr. Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor....you are the envy of all and I'm proud you are a Malaysian !

Billions have been spent, yes, in the acquiring of Sukoi air crafts deal in contra for "palm-oil" and a promise of a space participant over an agreed period....all good for the image of the "Malaysia Boleh" tag-line .

So now what...? What do we do next ? When this "poster-boy looking" good doctor returns ? Is he going back to his orthopedic practise ? Or will he be starting a "space-programme "ala Malaysia" fashioned somewhere along the National Service program ? He would be "open" to opportunists cashing on him to make a quick "monetary" killing ! Or have the scheming started already ? Would he be awarded a "datukship"......surely we must accord him that at least....one cannot get higher then where this doctor has been, right ! So...it is befitting him ! Our very own man in space and a jolly dashing one too !

Whatever the skeptics say, we won't be sending another cosmonaut or astronaut or "can-or-not" to space in the near future, due to the very, very high costs involved..... so for now I'll raise a glass of my favorite drink and pray for Dr. SMS's highly educational space experience and safe return..... curiously, would he be paraded from school to school, giving talks/lectures to our future generation of budding space-enthusiasts ?? He must teach them early to harness their interest of his "out-of-the-world" expierence !
Cheers to Dr. Sheikh and to all "A Blessed Ramadan " and peace to all men of goodwill !

Stephen, Stephen....not again, this confering of datukship on our spaceman. You guys are still obsessed with this datuk crap? Throw a pebble today and you would be either unlucky or are severely cross-eyed, if you dont hit two of these lofty specimens. There are a dime a dozen. Let's not insult the achievement of this Malaysian with a common title. Remember he was the chosen one. Remember, physicians do not want us to call them doctor, they prefer the Mr.prefix. Let him have a good flight and come back convinced to contribute to the betterment of this nation. And Doctor, desist the temptation of them confering the datukship on you. Tell them instead to put some Petronas millions into a trust-fund for space research. Fellow Malaysians, time to come down to earth! Terra firma is where we see what happens next....maybe send somebody to the Sun...at nightfall when its not so hot.

CNN Christiane Amanpour asked AAB last night after Malaysia sending Malaysian into orbit, what next? AAB said we will be the first country to send Malaysian to the Sun! But Christiane Amanpour was shocked and asked AAB "wouldn't it be a bit too hot to send anyonne there?!" she asked trying to be polite, to which AAB answered: "Of course it is hot my dear, but we will blast them of at night!!!"

Dear Shanghai Man,

You've good premonition and forecast....I share the same feelings as you (his receiving title awards, going to schools and universities adn playing the role as model, sorry role-model)..etc. There will be a grand thousand people welcoming reception, with more ringgit spent chartering buses, probably from ministries). And the euphoria should last till next general erection, sorry elections.

I don't know what the Mal gov is trying to achieve from this. The very rich middle eastern woman paid her own way up there. And there's a bunch of ding dongs find paying these 2 to space with their hard earned tax money something to be proud of. Did Mal technologically contributed towards this mission? Or was it just buying an expensive ticket to the roller coaster?
