of statistics and 1shy cop !

So now it is declared that the crime rate in the city's "hot-spots" has dropped by 13% following crime prevention operations held between Aug 5 to Nov 15 this year.......hmmmm ! (read here)

So we are all happy and dandy and sure, the police deserve a pat on their back for the good job done in reducing crime in our neighbourhood. Kudos !

One question though begs an answer. How did they come-up with this statistic ? Of records of the reported crimes only or did they also take into account of the hundreds of other cases that go unreported ? Did you know, in my personal opinion only about 40% of victims' of crimes committed on the streets of the city actually go reported ? For mandatory reasons like re-applying lost government documents. ( identity cards, atm and driving licence's, yes ?)

And more often then not, if the victim was a foreigner.... he would rarely report to the police for fear of being further investigated/harassed and even arrested, as the number of foreigners living illegally here is in an alarming statistic by itself. As for genuine tourist and visitors.....most of them wouldn't even bother to report.....( trust me on this....I have encountered and spoken to a few of such snatch-theft victims ! Their story is etched deeply and on the ill-advice and warnings of former visitors/tourists who were once victims of such "mat rempits" themselves too in our fair country and they can narrate in detail the frustration they went through in the police stations when reporting such cases......and is deemed a complete waste of their time !)

So there you go....the accuracy of this statistics and I want to honestly think we can foresee an absolutely and totally "safe environment" in the near future for my near and dear ones and yours too ! Don't stop the good work and slide back to the messy reputation we have been bestowed with !

I sincerely want to single out to say a special "thank you" to this one shy cop ! Syabas ! We need more dedicated cops like you ! Hopefully someday, my faith in our police force will be redeemed and renewed ! Until then we hope for "little miracles" like this 1shy cop !

The shy cop could be in trouble for justice beyond office hours. Even worse, the robbers may engage criminal lawyers to defend themselves by claiming they were only playing with toy pistols!

Hopefully this will not happen.

Perhaps we should give moral support where it's due, and it is due.

A GOOD MAN DOES NOTHING.
