A sport very deep in tradition. The grand champions are reverred as "GOD"
They have a Grand sumo Tournament every quarter.
Two Mongolians are the yokozunas at the moment. Shoryu has been the yokozuna for many years and Hakuho quit recently being promoted to Yokozuna. Both are about 25 years old. The smaller Shoryu frequently uses all the varied throws.
The tall Bulgarian OSH or Otoshu won the yusho (quarterly championship). You have to be convincingly be a yusho champ before you can become a yokozuna.
There are quite a number of "foreigners" at the moment fighting in the top division "makuuchi". But the mongolians are the most in numbers reason being they are seasoned wrestlers back home.
It is telecast "live" every quarter 's championship over NHK- astro.
I fogot, you can read anything about sumo in this quarterly magazine"
