"fish rots from the head down".

I happen to read MyCenNews "Malaysia: Not A Country To Go" as posted on the home page of a Ghanian blog of the treatment of Africans in Malaysia and was not entirely shocked ! What shocked me was the responses of some ( at the time of this post there is 68 comments-and you gotta click one by one ! ) who took the liberty to further confirm our status as a racist nation !

One commentor even went as far as to say that the blog was a creation of a fellow Malaysian out to create hatred by foreigners towards Malaysia ! But the most interesting comment is from a Malay Malaysian (click the title-link above and read his comment) who has been living in the US for the past 30 years. He too questions the now famous tag-line..."what happened to us..... ?"

Sad indeed, but perhaps somewhere along the way to achieve the utopian dream of the so-called "first world status" we lost all principles, morals and decency in exchange for monetary greed, materialism and racism ! Shame on us ! And I blame it squarely on our educational system slyly "orchestrated" by fascists and religious bigots !

They say "fish rots from the head down".....hmmmmm...how true !! And we have been rotting since 1957 and we stink like a cess-pool as a nation ! What have we got to show as a grown and matured nation if we continue to make racism a norm in our society ?.....nothing but third world mentality !!

To the peoples of Africa, on behalf of all like-minded members of civil society in Malaysia, I am so sorry you had to endure such humiliation here. I beg you, please accept my sincere apology !

Thanks again Stephen for this piece.

As I apologise to africans getting a rough treatment in Msia, I too would like to remind non-Indians to stop themselves fr using the term "keling" or "bayi" to describe Msians of indian descent.

I will admit I too have been such a culprit (monkeys see, monkeys do) but now as even my old stubborn mum realizes - it is just plain rude to say that.

As u know I live in a part of africa & have seen my share of different cultures & races. As far as I know there are good & bad in every race; as far as I know they too bleed red like us when hurt.

When we assume someone is guilty by association of color of skin, we are no better than the racially pure rhetorics of some political parties we criticise.

Civilization experience folks; Africans and Indians have produced a Mandela and a Ghandi.
What exactly have the Malay race produced? A RPK! And what did they do to him...
History is a harsh mistress that will condemn the Malays for what they have done.
An unscientific count of that anti ISA petition shows the lack of Malay signatures vs a majority of non-Malay signatures. Digital divide or something more sinister?

Hi
Believe you got it wrong. We have been rotting since 1970.
The Tengku had the formula right. It was only Mahathir, Razak, & Harun (btw Dato' Harun was a very nice gentleman - on a 1to1 basis), but due to politics, they chose a different route.
The coup of 69, resulted in a different Malaysia. The rot has spread, but ask any oncologist, they will tell you the only way to save the patient is to remove the cancer. The cancer is UMNO Baru.

Abdullah Badawi is the right person to solve the problem.

NOT Najib. I dont trust him. Look at Haris Ibrahim's write-up of a near missed 513.

The problem is UMNO Baru.

yes anon of 8:23 am. You are right sir, I remember we did have a happy and harmonious childhood back in the 60's. And the culprits were those you mentioned esp. Mahathir with 22 yrs of dictatorship whilst denying HIS own origins and he is accusing Pak Lah of cancerous rot. Apology to the error in chronology.

I won't be surprise if they say we're a racist nation but who started it in the first place if not for those scumbags in Umno ?

You just have to visit this website belonging to Kelab Penyokong Maya Umno or KPMU (a pro-Umno supporter website.

If you visit this website, you'll be horrified to see so many racist comments being posted by those Umno scumbag supporters but as usual being Umno's poodle, no action will ever be taken against this scumbag website perhaps, though clearly they seem to incite hatred in Malays against non-Malays and this is actually "seditious" and can be "threat to national security" itself.

Ok to justify what I said above, I post here the link to a recent article in that website. Just notice the comment made by one scumbag called 'alang'.

melaka cheng boy,
you are so right...maybe someone should alert the cops or the botak about this disgraceful blog !What crap ! and that "alang" should be sent for rehab in Kamunting !
My advice is stay away from these blogs !Not worth your time and more-over they appeal to only a more narrow readership(only those who can understand the language!).....see, the world does not read bahasa blogs....only like- minded morons !

I stopped reading or commenting on pro-racsist blogs because no matter how educated or enlightened I thought the blogger was...WHAMM!!!

Without knowing me - I but just that I am chinese a well known blogger accused me of "living in luxury" implying I benefitted fr the blood of poor malays or taking away the opportunities of poor malays to get to wherever it is they think I am at today

yeah. I "live in luxury" through

- the toil of parents who were so desperately poor they gave me away to someone who didn't want me

- through racsist policies denying me a place in local uni while granting places to others with far worst results

- through forcing me to realize my determination to further my studies so I went abroad with US$100 in my pocket to support 4yrs of undergrad education - eating ONLY turkeys (cheap lah) :)

- through working in other countries who acknowledged hard work & performanc

so I can bring all my hard earned home today to live amongst a racsist government

How do you tell racsists that we must learn from history and let bygones be bygones, and the majority of us "pendatangs" are not rich but just surviving?

How do you tell racsists that we are all Malaysians - and as deserving of being here as anyone else?

How do you convert racsists not to hatte you because of the color of your skin?

Nah. In the name of their righteousness they tar us with the same brush

i just bloody gave UP!

Dear Shanghai fish... since your topic is something to do about racism, so I thought of giving a good example within the context. Of cos I don't waste my time 'lepaking' in that scumbag blog but co-incidently I happened to bump into it recently and was surprised by the truth of it.

However it doesn't mean just because narrow readership appreciate Bahasa blogs, so it gives the liberty to anyone to post anything 'seditious' or 'racist' in a Bahasa blog rite, just like what that scumbag 'alang' did ?

I don't agree that we should totally ignore the use of Bahasa in blogs as it is important being the national language to reach out to the majority voters who're Malays and also those in East Malaysia. Even RPK's MT and Mkini also promotes the use of articles in Bahasa.

However I do totally agree with you if you say we should stay away from Bahasa blogs by those Umno scumbags which are all out to promote racism and disharmony... he he.. :-)

Fish,
very likely that this blog belongs to an African or an African sympathizer. With the latest spate of arrests, shootings & killings of Africans in Malaysia, i'm not surprised that such an article poped up on the net. In my opinion, it takes two to tango. I see faults on both sides.

Their fault:
They do have a track record of comitting crimes in Malaysia, the most famous being the black money incidences and drugs, then the frequent fights and punch ups that we often come accross, that actually does create fear & apprehension amongst the locals.

Our faults:
1)generalizing all Africans as trouble makers.
2)Being a racist nation, we most probably decided to discrimate a certain group of people as they were foreigners and were of the darker complexion.
3) Watching too much movies about the boys in the hoods and the "G" units. Since many in UMNO and their lapdog, PDRM, have low I.Q levels, they are unable to tell facts from fiction, and for them they are still "orang negro". God bless them.

cheers
