If the BN government acted in fear of an intense backlash, say so lah....nothing to be shy what. After all it is good to know that the PM is indeed 1rakyat "friendly" and has the 1interest of the 1voters as... erhhh.... 1priority. (read here )
And you certainly cannot "laugh off" the claim of the victory of the simple tax-paying and voting rakyat ! This "putting-off" of the GST better be for good and is no laughing matter either my friend and this is, in every which way you look is a typical flip-flop by the BN government ! Guess after my posting below (here) to reward the rich with tax-exemption on golf buggies and to now so suddenly "suck off the blood" of the poor rakyat by tabling in Parliament the GST Bill wouldn't go down as a popular move on Najib's part, would it ? Did he feel the fear, somehow ?
I will surely claim this as a voter's victory whether the protest march was called off or not ! And the good PM knows when not to play play with the sentiments of the crucial and already frustrated voter's "rice-bowl" with a GE so close at hand, right ? Good move Mr. Prime Minister !
Long live the rakyat !

One of the principles of management is that you must not declare victory too early. For the government it is a strategic withdrawl before they take that giant step forward to implement GST.
Eternal vigilance is the price that we have to pay to keep or freedom. We all agree that the democratic form of government is the best form of designed by man to govern a nation. But we must watch that form of Government like a hawke. Ramalx
Good move for time being, maybe due to the coming Sarawak state elections and GE-13. It may be implemented post elections as to implement it now in the dawn of pre-election would mean BN is digging its own grave for good.
Amiable post and this enter helped me alot in my college assignement. Thank you for your information.
Hello Bro,
Accountants are not economists. Yet the accounting firms ( Big 5 ) are invited by TV stations and ministries yearly to talks on budget reviews. Since 1985, this Big 5 jokers have been welcoming GST. Never once they ever spoke or commented against the imposition of GST.
Normally the govenor of Bank Negara is appointed from one of this Big 5. Once implemented into the tax system, they would be the biggest beneficiaries doing extra research, training, manuals, outsource and much more. Now that it is defered, their dreams shattered of millions of fees.Accounting firms are now into consulting, IT, management. No wonder you find so many flaws in published accounts of listed companies. If you tell an accountant from any of these Big 5 firms of any piping blogage in your house, he would advise to consult a consultant for a fee which would be 10 times more had you called a plumber ! I rest my case.

Currently for anyone earning/income less than 3000/= a month, is not subject to income tax or not taxable. But with GST everyone pay tax even you may just earn RM400 a month! GST is a consumption tax and will curb the purchasing power of the poor!
How can we implement GST when our income level is still so low? if we look at other countries that have GST, eg Singapore, their per capita income is almost 4x ours! And on top of that how come we still haven't have the minimum wage policy?
