Last night at a dinner, I learnt a new word from the my friend and the first blogger in Parliament, Jeff Ooi : defenestration .

And I would like to add this to the other big words like noctambulism and somnambulism or even suicide to justify the tragically "snuffed-out" life of healthy Teoh Beng Hock who was last seen asleep in the premises of the MACC hq in Shah Alam, 3 days ago.

I knelt down in silent prayer this morning in church, thinking of young Teoh, and asking God/Allah to give strength to the family and prayed there was no foul-play to his "sudden" death, and if there so was any, the perpetrators be swiftly brought to justice.... but heck, I realised I should not be praying to God/Allah IF there so was any foul-play !!

I would make a pact with the devil himself to punish the perpetrators (if there so was any foul-play) to suffer and rot in misery on earth and re-live the hell on a daily basis for the evil deed till the day they die ( if there so was any foul-play )....so help me God ! Hey....afterall I'm sinfully a mortal, right ?

Try as they may, the majority of right-thinking citizens in Malaysia won't buy the dubious "story" the director of investigations Datuk Mohd Shukri Abdul is offering ! Teoh Beng Hock, a witness, died in your premise Datuk, after questioning till unearthly hours and you must take full responsibility for his death ! In other words....I just don't buy your "spin" ! It just doesn't gel man. Period !!

After all, I am made to understand, your MACC is made up of plenty of frustrated PDRM rejects, yes ? So Mr. MACC Director ( if there so was any foul-play )....come clean now or suspend yourself and your team immediately and let Mr. PM to appoint a Royal Commission of Inquiry pronto, to take over with immediate effect !!

Or do I have to make another pact and summon Satan again ?? Damn !

Ahoy there Capt' Yusof !

It is indeed a sad day since I heard the passing of a dear blogger friend Capt' Yusof aka Ancient Mariner.
We first met during the "heydays" of the Malaysian blogging community in late 2007 and we clicked and bonded well....him telling us of his sea-faring days and as the Superintendent of the Klang Ports and later as the GM of Westports. He was a seasoned old "sea-dog" and had always some juicy gossip to share ! In fact he was instrumental and a "thorn" in the on-going PKFZ expose that is still being deliberated.....speaking of which, I'm sure there will be some who will even heave a sigh of relief !

Ahoy there Captain, may Allah sail with you for the rest of your blessed life in the here-after and keep you in his loving care henceforth !

I'll raise a mug of good cheer for you, dear friend Capt'...... for the many good times !

Police in Malaysia have said they will release nine Christians mistakenly accused of trying to convert Muslim university students to Christianity.

Somebody...please tell me what's happening to this morons-in-blue who have to take the word of a village idiot manning the gates ! Why this shit had to happen in the first place, huh ? We have become so famous world-wide for being the most stupid and idiotic nation in a first world infrastructure ! Shame on you morons. And is anyone's head rolling ???

And in the case of the 2 Muslim journos who went to receive "holy communion" in a Catholic church, have they converted to Catholicism already ?? .....I cannot be more insulted if these 2 are allowed to sleep easy or the paper they represent to still be in publication !

my personal observation of the MU results.....

In response to a commentor's (reproduced below) reply yesterday, with regards to the dismal win by PAS at the Manik Urai by-election, I have up-loaded some "suspect" photographs . Here is my personal and "disturbing" observation while making my rounds to the polling stations in MU....surely I'd leave you to draw your own conclusions......

I'd like to direct your focus on the guys and girls in "orange" colored t-shirts and orange caps.....

....that and the lure of money that's spread around, I guess....hmmmm !

But the results really sucks as 65 votes is nothing to be proud of in fact!

PAS almost got defeated, after being overly confident claiming it could win by 2000 votes earlier. How can this happened ? Hope Shanghai can give us an analysis of what really happened or could have happened there based on the ground observation that resulted in this 'nothing to shout about' victory.

This slim margin victory or near defeat should be a wake call for PR. Instead of the internal bickering now happening rampantly here and there, time for PR to strategize themselves to ensure they don't fall out of popularity soon that will eventually result in BN becoming more popular to take over fully back all states in the coming PRU-13.

moon over MU....

This was the "eruptive " breakfast of "cilli padi"- loaded nasi kerabu I had with Duke and Haji at 7:00 on the way to MU...

I'm just going to show shots of the entire by-election from the various polling stations in MU, and the 1st. stop was at Manik Urai Baru....eager and expectant faces to last the soon-to-be gruelling polling day......

our boys in blue.....marking the boundaries to separate the already noisy opposing supporters.....nope, this did not help at all as you'd soon see.....

...tempers flared when the supporters of UMNO decided to block the PAS front-line.....that's when as an "Italian" disguised as a PAS supporter pinch this UMNO woman's ass !!! ... hmptfpp....!!!! Can you spot the Italian ? anyone is a suspect.....I couldn't !

...to a point that the police had to actually beg with clasped hands to appeal to this group of ladies to get back to their demarcated site.....

as in any by-election....a show-off.....adorned with medals of valour ?

and back to Sg. Peria.....the sight of so many orange-garbed SPR workers dug at my curiosity....why are there so many of them.....a new meaning to the "phantoms",....perhaps ?

....and lastly, this guy on the right, who only wanted to be known as "Yiah" (maybe short for Zakariah) was kind enough to spend the entire day taking me around on his trusty "kap-chai"....and I must say a big "thank you" to him for the patience and assistance he gave me.

As for the other older guy on the left....erh....he was just a "sibok" and was just happy to be photographed.....

......and that was my day here, folks when the moon rose over MU !

anyone for a "fisherman's friend" ?

What can I say after all the numerous ceremahs I've attended in previous by-elections.....guess this is the best looking stage I've seen so far....hmmmm ! most times the speakers had to climb on different levelled stacked chairs and bottle crates that substitute a stair-case to the back of a lorry to speak...amid the noisy drone of an old diesel generator......hmmm....! Can't they just have it in a posh hotel or a "dewan"....like everyone else ?

....and the heavy-weights of the PR coalition were there to add some "ooomph !" to the so-called "mother-of-all-ceremahs"...the ceremah perdana......

...a section of the eager and curious crowd that settled themselves on mats and slippers on a damp ground......

...to hear Abe (pronounced Ahh Beh-in kelante'-speak) the "fisherman" who's got his heart in the right place.....close to the community he grew up with ! This big and gentle fella' spoke and kept his speech short....and did not mince his words....to the loud approving chants of "Takbir...takbir...takbir" and left the stage to meet the shaking-hands with the people on the ground.....as the already warmed-up crowd took up positions to listen to the much awaited speakers to come on.....

another section of the crowd.....see that little kid asleep on mummy's lap ? Has he got to go to school tomorrow ? What does the future holds for him or is it her ?

and then the newly "Abe-bestowed" 'datuk', Uncle Kit took to the mike and the fiery speeches on national issues began.....1Malaysia's, 11:11am "goodies" and of course his pet rib, the PKFZ mega-scandal ! The crowd by now was wanting more and more juicy and illicit details.....as some adventurous individuals were hollering and punctuating favorite words, echoing him.....

every now and then I had to zoom in on the crowd to break the monotony to see the expression on the faces of the crowd.....only to be greeted by a sea of "kopias".....

hmmm...what's this and whose feet do you think these are ?......surely you'd expect some imported brand like Bally or Ferrogamo....but plain sandals for a PM-in-waiting, yes ?

... but this section of the crowd were even better dressed in batik and suits...almost in their "Sunday" best !

...and the rest of the sandled-feet.....Anwar came on with his ever eloquent speech, starting with some "kelante' jokes ( it still sounded greek to me anyways !) that had the crowd cheering with thunderous claps and ....hungrily demanding for more. He spoke longest as the spell-bound crowd refused to budge.....eating out of his hands on issues from UMNO's "khianat orang melayu' to corruption and oil royalties of the simple Kelantanese people with the crowd responding by interjecting with jeers of "UMNO jahat", "Takbir"...and "Allahu Akhbar".

by the time this frail and turbaned man came on......Manik Urai was won ! The star of the evening....spiritual leader of PAS, Nik Aziz....calm and collected at first, under a zinc-roof and on a make-shift stage, was slowly building up the momentum in his speech to an almost crazy frenzy as he got louder and more vocal to the urging appreciation of a cheerful crowd....

.....as I slowly snaked in darkness, trying desperately to avoid stepping on people's feet or mats apologising, but only got friendly "no problem" waves and smiles from these simple folks.

and by the time I reached the road after 25 minutes from the stage area, I was greeted with more "kopiad" people on the road, I was soaked in sweat and clutching to my sling-bag, the crowd still refused to budge......it was a hot July night around midnight.....and I was certain the crowd here in Kampong Sg. Peria had endorsed their choice of candidate !

such was the traffic crawl to Kampong Peria in Manik Urai never experienced by the folks who later told me upon arrival from Kota Bahru....stretched for miles to gather for the mother of all ceremahs........the ceremah "perdana".(pic. below)

....past the ever present posters along the way.....and once I got down to meeting the local folks....after a cuppa I knew I was in the thick of things......ahhh....that familiar old feeling....yes !

this gentleman on the right Mohamad Shaary swears as a "penyokong setia" to his spiritual leader "Tok Guru".....and insists I take a picture of him beside his favorite banner ! He even promised in his Kelante'-speak (almost Greek to me !) he'd check my blog to make sure I put it up(a very "friendly" threat ?)....otherwise I'm sure he'd he will be waiting for me tomorrow.....see it will be easy to spot me here in remote Kg. Peria ! I stick out like a "nigga-in-china" coupled with my dashing good looks to boot ! So there you go, Shaary, done it !

I also met the family of this plucky and adorable Wee Chin Leong, age 9, who was just so friendly and hyper, accompanying his mum, Chuah Chai Chye (3rd. from left) and dad Wee Chee Chai (2nd. from left) who claims to be also the "penghulu tanpa daerah" from Kok Lanas with his uncle Eyu Kee,(5th. from left) age 85, presumebly the oldest man I met today.....hmmm....then again maybe not, when you see the other photos, later !.....and another "penghulu" friend of Pulai Chondong, Machang, Koh Ah Wang (far left). Seems every Chinese here is a "penghulu" of somewhere ! And there are only 56 of them in MU !

....well, like I said, isn't this a brave young fellow ? Even dared to sit on el zorro's lap ! Which got this grumpy old terror "melting", as he too took to this kid readily ! Little Wee Chin Leong is a name I will remember for a long time, long after Manik Urai !

Well that was my first night out here in "Greeky" Kelante' since 1982.....and will post with photos of the 'ceramah perdana' itself later today when I wake up from my much needed beauty sleep......yaaaaaaawn.....it's almost 4:30am now. Yaaaawn !

of promises and by-elections !

Ahhhhh....the clarion call for another "by-election" is here again ! How many of you have actually been involved or participated at run-ups to a by-election ? From attending the many fiery ceremahs in god forsaken and remote corners of the affected constituency to the final count on the polling day itself ?

There is a certain air of uncertainty, celebration and a fresh surge of adrenaline triggering erratic suspense every time you attend one, whether it is a ceremah for or against your personal beliefs and choice !

Yes, one thing is for sure....that is IF you are an "impartial attendee" (wearing NO party colors or taking no obvious stand !) at these ceremah's or campaign trials....everyone is very pleasant and friendly to you ! People ( mostly from local officials or members who passionately don a certain party color...whatever their political affiliations are) go out of their way to reach out and greet you and make you part of their entourage as you move in herd-unison closer to the stage to listen to their aspiring and wannabe politicians beating the shit out and giving the low-down scandals and misdeeds of their opponents and declaring promises upon promises of/for change amid bearing "goodies" and up-grading of entire public amenities......if only you would cast your vote in their favor, yes ??

Everybody you meet, irrespective of race or religion, throws away that you that suspicious "racist" look we are so accustomed with and will embrace you with open arms ! Some will even try to pin their party buttons or hand you a party flag for you to parade with and readily invite or offer you seats and drinks too ! How nice if only people could be like that every day of our lives ! Sigh.....!

Then comes the actual polling day and if you walked around the polling stations, you suddenly see the stark change of behaviour and mentality....all the eager friendly faces you saw in the last few days of campaigning suddenly bear a fierce and rowdy rivalry as banner-carrying and loud-hailing supporters face each other off, from across the roads. Chanting party slogans and cursing and jeering at every vehicle that is draped in the opponents color that passes by !
I have even seen some over-zealous supporters in a mad frenzy, kicking at moving vehicles in disgust to provoke a retaliation from the occupants of the vehicles and ending in "eye-ball to eye-ball" stand-offs until the guys in blue come to break them up and restore order (not necessarily all the time) ! It rattles your brain if only you could see what the out-come would have been otherwise......hmmmm !!

That folks is the incomprehensible "orgasmic" atmosphere of by-elections and I've always enjoyed being right there in the thick of the action and I'm now missing it as is in Manik Uria, Kelantan ! Sighhhhh !

I am told this song was banned here in Malaysia. I wonder why ! Did it hit a raw nerve on the authorities ? Maybe the lyrics were definitely too close for comfort and co-related to the state of our local affairs !

HINDRAF-stay out and shut-up !

Shanty towns or settlements are created by impoverished people who have entered the country illegally or by migration and some later "neutralised" (as in being given citizenship) or have still remained illegal and squatted for free for "donkey" years on either reserve land or land gazetted for future use or sale for development by the government.

Some have been ambitious enough to work hard and have made a better future for themselves and have moved out of these settlements with the rest of the civic-minded society as they have helped themselves to the economic pie. While the other "less fortunate" ones refused and preferred to remain in such squalor and have not contributed much to society except demanding for all amenities and luxuries of life (some even own a couple of cars and go for holidays abroad !) and making them "permanent residents" status in such settlements ! Yes I'm talking about the Kampung Buah Pala fracas ! ( here )

My point is, what right do they and why must the now DAP government have to "beg" these "permanent residents" to vacate the said land and with hefty compensation payments too ?? Deals done, whether shady or otherwise by the then Gerakan government has to be "honored" now by the current government of the day. So why are these squatters demanding the Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng's head ? Should they not be at the Gerakan office demanding for Koh Tsu Koon's head instead ? Morons !

And to add more drama to these "squatters" demands we have one "exilee" Wathymoorthy of HINDRAF jumping into the fray, championing and raking some cheap publicity and politicising on an already tailor-made issue for his "defacto" mileage from LONDON ! Why the fcuk are you there Wathymoorthy, when the "shit is hitting the ceiling" here, huh ? Oh..I know...you are out busy filing a lawsuit in England begging 4 trillion pounds sterling compensation from the Queen for bringing your fore-fathers here from India and you being made a marginalised Malaysian while you sit on your ass in London ! Nice and cheap !

While the rest of us tax-paying citizens have to fork out monthly with our blood and sweat, to pay for assessment, quit rent and bank loans amongst other already damaging high costs of everything, these "residents" have had a free ride and have escaped all the above payments for generations- and that alone could be money saved in their coffers ! Now they demand for more compensation

The Penang state government has more pressing issues than entertaining you "free-loading squatters", get it ? Now, Wathymoorthy come back here and fight, you moron....and you Kampung Buah Pala squatters, gimme a break !

It's so Shanghai !!!

When you walk on Shanghai roads, you see and actually feel one really bumping line that is made of brick. It really hurts your feet and damages your shoes and heels. You find this bumping line everywhere you go - big roads, small, even metro has it. It's so annoying and drives me crazy, my poor shoes suffer so much. At first I thought it's separation line for walking and riding bicycles, something like you have in Belgium for example. But NO! I learned it later that this bumping route is for blind people ! How cool is that, ha?

Well folks....ain't that a winning idea ? Now if only we can adopt this capital idea in our fair city ! We send many "officials" and spend millions of tax-payers money for "study tours" or if you like "pelancong sambil belajar" outings and what have we got to show upon return from these "escapades" ? Nothing...but another "holiday" feather for the councillors to "cap" ( read capitalise) in their tenure !

Simple yet beneficial ideas like the one above can greatly improve the quality of life for the blind and put KL in the ranks of 1st. world cities, yes ?

Najib's 1Malaysia dream ?

Somebody from within is under-mining Najib's 1Malaysia ! Why ?

Yesterday it was reported here, that Najib's 1Malaysia caters for all, regardless of race or religion and here we have Muhyiddin's battle cry, declaring UMNO will defend the Malay race till the last drop of blood !

Why this drama all of a sudden ? Should he have instead proclaimed that UMNO will defend the rights of all Malaysians, regardless of race or religion to the last drop of blood from any threats out-side of Malaysia ? Now that would be the right thing for a DPM to say, yes ?

And on another note, why should the PM wait for next year to implement the merit system ? Why not NOW ? If he was serious and not mere "feel good" lip-syncing, why wait till next year ? Issues like this, should take immediately effect, to forever silence the critics and re-affirm his seriousness of the 1Malaysia dream ( which is by the way actually a carbon-copy of the "People's Declaration", yes ! )

Going on road shows to promote 1Malaysia costs millions or as we are accustomed to these days- to billions even ! Money that can be saved from the tax-payers coffers and be distributed immediately to the many hard-core poor who are deprived of an education and other basic necessities, no ? Does anyone now how much of the tax-payers money is spent on making all these 1Malaysia contracts of logos that add to the organising expenditure costs ? I am sure many a crony will benefit from such grand scale events, which I say is a total waste of good money that can be utilised for a more noble cause.....like feeding, clothing and educating hard-core poor Malaysian of all races all over the country both here and in the East !

On another topic of 1Malaysia and one language, Bahasa Malaysia, much has been demanded of all of us to be fluent in the language. I know not everyone speaks the Bahasa fluently, agreed. But have you noticed Bahasa Malaysia other then what is taught in schools, is never spoken uniformly in our daily conversations ?

Can the chap from Kelantan hold a decent conversation with say a Johorian and comprehend and fully understand the same things spoken ? Of course not ! Or even the "Nogeri" guy can comprehend the Perakian's "2 kupang" as opposed to the native Sabahan's "duvo ngopod sen" ?

Each of us have a unique native or tribal mother-tongue as an added advantage over those who only speak one fuent language and a sputtering of the English language to face and survive in this competitive world, yes ? Who do you think has a better chance of survival, huh ?

Can we then all abandon every other language for Bahasa Malaysia ? As we are after-all, save for the original indigenous peoples, ALL immigrants here, don't forget that. 1Malaysia should be an exciting and diverse fussion of us.....yes,.... you, you you and I..... the way we have lived life differently as per our varied cultural, ethnic and social back-grounds but granted the same equality, honor and respect on a level playing field ! Agreed ?

So Mr. PM.....lets see some real "walk the talk" instances NOW before someone in your very own cabinet screws-up and robs you of your dream project !
