"I stand erected.....eerh...corrected"!- rocky

Ohhhhhhh....is this 22 year old girl's back-revealing blouse giving you a "hard-on"?....or is the blouse "encouraging immoral activity" thoughts in you or is she "exposing too much of her body" that you can feel the bulge ??
At least that's how JAIP-Jabatan Agama Islam Perak- (and damn, I'm a Perakian too !) Director Datuk Jamry Suri is feeling right now...!!
Our religious custodians of high moral have again attested to being morons with this latest raid, conducted in Ipoh, on this poor singer, Siti Noor Idayu (pic.) who has been singing at a popular entertainment outlet.
You have to read the full story here by Star and NST and draw your own conclusions folks !
I seriously think my good Raja Muda of Perak, His Royal Highness, Raja Dr. Nazrin Shah, quickly step in and stop this "wanton judgement passing" by these self-appointed "saints". Chill JAIP....this is 2007 and correct me if I'm wrong, and with all due respect, is this the "dark age of Islam"?
I wonder what "thoughts" runs through the empty heads of these "saintly fellows" in JAIP when at home, they look at their own children, mothers or sisters...? Sheeesh !

I seldom comment on this kind of religious related stuff, but I think Jais should go visit Sri Hartamas in KL and they will get a cultural shock .... LOL!

You know what, Malays have become second class citizens in the country. They are not allowed to do this, do that. Very sad.

Its things like these which will drag us back to the dark ages...

mr shanghai stephen,

let me educate you on a few things, though i know you do not need any. But i feel, before you miss the point, i should.

it is true that in Islam, there are many things that are forbidden. being scantily-clad (men or women) is one of them. consuming alcohol and pork is another.
these things, i am sure you already know.

ms siti nor idayu did not dress in an Islamic way. That's a fact.
But, is Malaysia an Islamic country that enforces the Shariah?
Or are only Muslims subject to the Shariah?

The last time I checked, its laws are secular with exception of those on marriage & divorce as well as inheritance.

Poor Ms Idayu. It looks like the religious department decided to invoke the shariah one lazy evening after its officers had been entertained and had a fill of her entertainment. Sleazy guys.
But, aah. they were only doing their job.

But, let's not get sidetracked.
Strictley speaking, the officers did no wrong. they were enforcing the law that is already in existence.

the question is : SHOULD they have rounded up the Muslims who violated the shariah?

here, you have heard their excuses.

second question: not so much their act of rounding up BUT their act of humiliating and abusing the girl.

THAT IS WRONG.

I have read blogs that carried the story of Ms Idayu.
I find the arguments by commentors very predictable from the different segments of Malaysians.

Let me say this. In your anger, Mr Shanghai... do not berate Islam. Do not belittle Islam.

Let me also say this that in the final analysis, it is Ms Idayu who has to answer to the Almighty.

thank you for the space and for your time.

Another JAIS here?

Beware everyone, don't "expose" ur self!!!

Dear Eva,

You seem to be defending JAIP in this matter indirectly though you'd mentioned you somehow felt what they did was somehow wrong as well.

However, I think Mr Shanghai and some commentors here are not all out to belittle Islam as you'd stated but probably they are just upset with the way the religion is being practiced and enforced here in Boleh Land by its fanatic and shallow minded followers.

This in fact had made the religion look 'ugly' in the eyes of the world though it is known to be a peaceful and 'beautiful' religion.

Having said that, pls visit www.blog.limkitsiang.com to see the comments of other Malaysians who have a very strong view in this context (as discussed under the Revathi case) where the topic of Siti Idayu is discussed there as well.

As we understand the topic of religion is extremely a sensitive issue in this country to be brought for discussion, let us not forget the virtues of mutual respect towards each other and to remain living in harmony, tolerance and in humility as we know after all every living being comes from the Almighthy ONE who definately loves his creation (despite of type, religion or race) more than anyone on earth do.

Need I say more? As for Eva...I think she is merely trying to explain the view from JAIP...
But I have a question, then, if we do not up hold our rights as enshrined in the constitution, then are we going to change it to suit these intolerant religious bigots?

If this is their view, wouldnt we be heading down Taliban or even Pakistan's way?

melaka cheng boy,
i am sorry but i think you must have misread me.
i am in no way siding anyone, not JAIP nor Ms Idayu.

thank you.

hello everybody

for one thing islam forbids woman/man scantily dressed

it doesnt stop there
there are many which i dont intend
to discuss here

for those who do not preach islam
or doesnt know islam
its better not to comment because
you will never get it right.

like wise , if i dont preach christian or buddhism or hinduism its not fair that i comment and my comment would definitely hurt their feelings. As a muslim we respect other religion. whatever they want to do , we do not look low on them because that is what THEY BELIEVE.

you have your religion
i have my religion

i preach what i believe
you preach what you believe

we can live in peace...

anonymous write,
You have your religion,
I have my religion.

how nice if that reflects the actual situation or is it wishful
thinking.or the statement should like this:

You have your religion,
I have my religion,
but you musn't object when I impose my religious value on u,and u musn't practice your religious value which deems offensive to us.

Haven't we seen enough? The non muslims are even regarded as Dhimmis.
openly.
