It was a solemn morning indeed as friends and relatives gathered at the Thai Buddist Chetawan Temple in Jalan Pantai off Jalan Gasing to remember this man, a man with a perpetual smile even when upset !
the ceremony started with Buddist prayers....
and non-Buddist friends sat in sad silence attentively as the......
....Buddist monks performed the memorial rites, all 6 of them....
...for about half an hour before.....
...Shafie an old and dear friend of Kasim rose to say some kind words for the benefit of those not so close to Kasim...even Vanitha was there......
...and Errol, Cecil, Helen and George....
and so was Nades......
and of course Dino, who less then 3 weeks before Kasim died in a blast from the barrel of a sawn-off shotgun, came over to the club together with James..... and that was the last time I saw Kasim alive !
....the food and dessert spread below were Kasim's personal favorites and suppossedly Kasim's own recipe too......hmmmmm yummy !
Kasim Cha Thong Ratnawongse.....I salute you for the many brief moments we have had. Thank you for passing through my life and knocking many a glasses in those brief and happy times I have known you ! Now all I have are just fond memories of you .
Godbless and you rest in peace, my dear friend....wherever you are !
