Here's wishing all.....!

...with no conditions attached !

Probably the best news so far to end the year 2007...Yes !

And rightly so, because this "banning" the use of the word "Allah" has got a lot of right-minded Malaysians pissed-off and frustrated...not just Christians but also Malaysians of all walks of life who think the "junior minister" was desperately championing the voices of bigots !

Yes....yes we also know that elections are around the corner so....getting some extra mileage and attention-drawn now would be a good move on this Deputy Internal Security Minister Datuk Mohd Johari Baharum's rather depleting popularity ! The things they do for attention !

If you ask me, there are more pertinent and pressing issues to be discussed in that precious few minutes for debate at the august house by our so-called "representatives" than raising dubious and frivolous non-beneficial questions like the usage of the revered and universal word "Allah" in a weekly Christian paper and harping on the same in a multi-religious and multi-cultural country like Malaysia! Stop it and focus clearly, you morons....yes... you, who represent me in Parliament !

Tell me now....like why are we not talking about the Nurin killers and a host of other child killers anymore, or the rising house-breaking crimes and snatch theft cases or the ever-present "mat-rempit" menace on our streets or the corrupt "gate-keeper" Zakaria and his mansion in Klang or even the Port Klang FTZ "fiasco" or the thieving UMNO buggers who rob funds allocated for poor flood victims in the east coast states or finding a solution for the 300 odd displaced Bangladeshis ! Not to mention corruption in the police, road transport, land and immigration departments ???

These are REAL issues to be tackled folks and everyone (read, us... tax-payers ! ) is ok with it ? Sheeesh !

Read the BBC's take here
and the Star's here !

Good news this one is, yes !.... but lets not forget those other "real" issues mentioned above ...."Happy New Year.... to all of you folks !! "
Cheeeeeeeeeeeers !!!

Just for laughs !

"Happy New Year" to David and Joanne...cheers and thanks for the laughs you bring us... !

Now many of us have been affected by European laws but this latest one may have escaped some of you. The European Commission has just announced an agreement whereby English will be the official language of the EU, rather than German., which was the alternative.

As part of the negotiations the British Government conceded that English spelling had some room for improvement and has accepted a 5-year phase-in plan that will be known as ‘Euro-English’.

In the first year, ‘s’ will replace the soft ‘c’ . Sertainly, this will make the sivil servants very happy. The hard ‘c’ will be dropped in favour of ‘k’ and this should klear up confusion, and keyboards kan have one less letter.

We expext that publik enthusiasm in the sekond year when the troublesome ‘ph’ will be replaced with ‘f’. This will make words like fotograf 20% shorter.

In the third year, publik akseptanse of the new spelling kan be expekted to reach the stage where more komplikated changes are possible. Governments will enkourage the removal of double letters which have always ben a deterent to akurate speling. Also, al wil agre that the horibl mes of the silent ‘e’ in the languag is disgrasful and it should be dropd.

By the 4th yer people wil be reseptiv to step such as replasing ‘th’ with ‘z’ and ‘w’ with ‘v’. During ze fifz yer, ze unesesary ‘o’ kan be dropd from vordskontaining ‘ou’

.....and after ziz fifz yer, ve vil hav a reil sensi bl riten styl. Zer vil be no mor trubl or difikultis and evrinun vil find it ezi tu understand ech oza.
Ze drem of a united urop vil finali kum tru.

Und efter ze fifz yer, ve vil al be speking German like zey vunted in ze forst plas.

If zis mad you smil. Pleas pas on to oza pepl.

Bless the beasts and the children !

For God's sake don't blame the animals !

Yes, both the morons in the Zoo Negara authority and the parents of the little girl who was mauled (see the Malay Mail report here ) by a leopard or puma or even a remotely spotted panther, stop this on-going accusations..and move on ! So far nobody can even be sure what animal actually attacked this little girl ! Sheeesh ! And I'm truly sorry what happened to this poor little girl !

It can never be the animals fault, period ! ...see I am a ardent and regular visitor to our zoos and I have seen how these visitors, yes Malaysians of all races, treat these poor captive creatures of God !
The Zoo authorities are duty-bound to protect the animals from us humans by making sure the "buffer" zone is not breached and have to admit fault, if that zone is not adequately cordoned and safe.

And on the parents part, how can the parent not be with/beside the child, teaching her the importance of respecting the animal and keep a safe distance from the fencing and not cross the "buffer" zone (even if there is none !) and to further educate kids from, feeding with anything they can pluck from the bushes around, throwing objects like stones, sticks, mineral bottles , or provoking the animals with "animalistic howls"?? Come to think of it...I've witnessed even adults doing all of the above during my many periodic visits to the various zoo in this country ! You see most animals don't have fore-legs 5 feet long, to squeeze through the fencing and drag a kid to the fence before mauling her ! So unless this kid- minus the parents lack of supervision and education- ventured too close to the enclosure, she would have been spared the attack and trauma !

Maybe the Zoo Negara clowns should take a "pelancung sambil belajar" tour to the Taiping Zoo to see how well it is maintained ! But nooooo....no sir, they will be too arrogant and proud to admit their short-commings ! And to all parents before taking your kids to the zoo.... teach them to "respect" those beautiful creatures of God ! Remember education is your kids best tool.....that is ..... if you have anything intelligent to impart yourself !

300+1 Bangladeshis !

I am a proud Malaysian and am glad of our super-mega developments and towering-progress status attained over the years in terms of world-wide recognition where we are now "masters"and can well afford to employ cheap foreign labour........but what I read in the Malay Mail yesterday ( here ) and again today ( here ) makes me wanna literally puke at Malaysians......stories high-lighting the plight of the 300 Bangladeshis and of that lone and humiliating pose struck by this poor Bangladeshi fellow ! (see pictures on the right and kudos to the Malay Mail team ! )

When I say, I wanna puke at Malaysians, yes, I meant at the corrupt authorities who have no bloody conscience and have no damn reason to care for the working conditions entitled or specifically laid out in the foreign workers contract ! Respect for "rights" is just a "wool" used generously by the authorities in this country ! And I am so ashamed of us !

Why are both the Bangladesh and Malaysian authorities, allowing this to happen right here in our alleyways ? How much is a Bangladeshi's pride worth ? Do you think he doesn't deserve any dignity ? Put yourself in their shoes....errr ....slippers (if that's all they can ill afford !)

I say we drag these corrupt employers and their agents through the streets of the city with cards round their necks with the words "I have cheated and abused my foreign employees and I am proud of it because I'm a Malaysian " !

I am also told that for every 1 registered and legitimate agent there are 3 illegal "foreigner-employing" agents.....and that our "corrupt authorities" are fully aware of and may even be on their "pay-roll"........hmmm....which of course, like a ton of bricks, all will deny and demand from me for evidence and..... for which I won't be able to produce....so.....there !! But remember this word..."conscience"!

We have just "korban-ed" and it's the season of Christmas....... and I'm feeling "sick" reading these 2 articles.........and I'm redirecting all my "Christmas wishes" to the plight of these 300 + 1 men who are treated with contempt and subjected to live like dogs !!

Of course I know too of the few kind and generous Malaysians who have come out to feed and comfort these "alley-way" destitutes.......but is that alone enough ? Sheeesh ! Yes and I also know of the plight of many Malaysian families suffering in the east-coasts states of Malaysia because of the floods !

Merry Christmas to all you Malaysians and hope you can all have a "pleasant sleep" !!!

Damai (Peace) Malaysia !

Who is this fellow on the right, anyways ? Goes by the name of Mohd Saiful Adil Daud and claims to be Damai Malaysia co-ordinating chairman. Popped out of nowhere and became a "kampung" hero overnight ! And he also claims to represent the "silent majority"...oops! that means......... you and me !! Shucks !

Damai Malaysia, supposedly an umbrella body comprising 395 NGOs representing 1.5 million Malaysians who have declared their stand against street demonstrations. It is made up of 75 Chinese-based NGOs and 20 associations which are Indian-based with the rest being Malay.

This Saiful fellow also said "This coalition was formed recently to oppose all forms of street demonstrations which disrupted peace in the country". He reminded the people that street demonstrations were not part of Malaysian culture..... so I guess he must really be pissed-off with the likes of these people involved, as suggested in the 3 pictures below too, right ? .......hmmmm !

Well folks...do you know something..anything..of this Damai Malaysia thinggy ? Seems like everybody's trying hard to "pleasing thy master" crap and you know something ...he was even given an audience to meet the busy PM !

"The group of about 20 people led by Damai chairman Mohd Saiful Adil Mohd Daud was not allowed to enter the Royal Malaysian Air Force Subang airbase but after waiting for the airbase authority to get back to them, they were finally allowed to go in
to handed over to Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi a memorandum criticising the illegal street rallies.

Mohd Saiful Adil gave a brief speech before proceeding with five other representatives to hand over the memorandum. The group applauded before they left the place. The whole episode took less than 15 minutes."

Now ,that's what I'd call "cashing-in" ! And we must be morons not to have known about this all this while !....right ?
Sheeesh !

Human Rights...what rights ??

Malaysia "celebrated" World Human Rights Day this Sunday morning.....this was the scene that greeted me as I arrived at Sogo/Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman....whoaa...! I made my way to the gathering amidst the "men in blue"....around 7.50 am. and the thunderous whirring from the choppers circling above !

after much "dialogue with the men in blue" the members of the Bar, represented by Human Rights lawyer Latheefa Koya, the crowd of about maybe 100 were allowed to walk peacefully, but on condition that the walk was limited to only 10 minutes from start-up time of 8.09am...

Shar 101.....masked from the haze or zipped from speaking ?

Haris too was lost for words...by the looks of it........but "stroll" we did !

nearing the Colliseum Cafe....the police barked orders that the 10 minutes was up...so...

more pleading by Human Rights lawyer Latheefa...to allow the marchers to continue and to which the cops gave an extension of 2 extra minutes to end the walk and the Bar Council was a good 500 meters away......perhaps we should make a dash/sprint to keep within the 2 minutes limit ??

So quickly the marchers picked-up the pace and turned into Jalan Tun Perak- short cut ?
2 minutes up....so end of march and much confusion and argument ensued between the lawyers and the police.....!
Latheefa trying to make a point and reason....but nooo...the police will have none of that !!

The ever presence of the "eye-in-sky" burning good fuel and at the tax-payers costs too !

big-wig man-in-blue with loud-hailer telling the marchers to disperse.....only thing missing was the FRU with tear gas guns and water-canons !

surely an agitated and angry Noorazah Othman demanding her right to walk wherever she desires...

Still explaining to the cops of her "right" to walk peacefully.......but......

the police started arresting 4 lawyers , Latheefa, Sivarasa, Amir and Surendran, first for defying the order to disperse and bundling them into a waiting van....

and also very roughly "woman-handling" activist Noorazah Othman and eventually arresting her !

this... a violent crowd ???....gimme a break ! All in, there were reports of 9 arrests including lawyer and Bar Council's chair-person of the Human Rights Committee Edmond Bon !

another infuriated marcher, Ashfar Ali Raja, too tired from pleading with the cops to release those unnecessarily arrested and trying hard to be heard given a helping hand and shoulder by zorro...

the visibly decent lot of marchers continue to walk towards the Malaysian Bar Council building in Jalan Lebuh Pasar.....except for the arrogant and high-handedness attitude of our police who repeatedly barked orders at the rakyat...

....suddenly Ashraf Ali Raja prostrates on the pavement beside the Masjid Jamek "benteng" begging in prayer !
view from the stairs of the Malaysian Bar Council....Ashraf Ali Raja demanding for justice....from the cops....and a few minutes later was hauled-up and arrested by the police ! So much for justice !!!

the crowd swelled with more curious on-lookers.....and as the marchers reached the Bar Council building.....sources say that the marchers were out-numbered 5 to 1 ....about 500 police personnel ??? my....if only they could deploy that same number to get the Nurin killer...... they could have closed the file on that case by now !

another young "marcher" amidst the adults....demanding a bright and fair future.....brave little girl !

Now.... this van with the Bandaraya" logo parked opposite the Bar Council building.....isn't this van supposed to monitor traffic flow and report traffic congested routes and relay on road routes for motorists to travel ??.....tax-payers money put to monitor tax-paying marchers ??...hmmmmm.......very suspicious of it's main purpose ! Mr. Mayor...care to explain ?

There you go folks... and of course a few of us later around 11am. adjourned to have "nasi lemak Kg. Baru.......for breakfast.... and rest our feet.....for we "did" walk where we pleased, but with the ever-present eye of the police watching our every move......"Happy Human Rights Day" to all and my special thanks to all who "strolled" with me at Sogo this morning ! Cheers !

John Winston Lenon (8-10-1940 to 8-12-1980)

IMAGINE !
Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today...
Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one
Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one...

27 years .......I'm crying as I do this posting cos your "prophetic" lyrics gives me hope to live and "walk" this Sunday morning on and on ! Wherever you are John.........Cheers and Godbless !

Criminals here...there and everywhere !

A 25 year old woman was reportedly abducted by 4 persons in Shah Alam on the 28 November. The abductors were seen driving off in a silver Toyota Camry.
Then on 2 December, a 20 year old graphic designer was bundled into a Toyota Vios right in front of her house in Subang Jaya.
Both the above victims were released, yes, but after they were forced to withdraw substantial sums of money from their savings accounts and gang raped. ( read here and here )
This is the current state of affairs in Malaysia. A way of life here in Malaysia ! All one has to do is 'click' on the search button on "gang-rape" of all the major newspaper and you'd get an endless list of this despicable crime being committed all over the country be they kids or young adults.
What is being done by the police, the very guardians of all of us, tax-payers' protectors ? It is always the same story they harp on........individuals to take care and be wary when travelling alone or that a task force has been set-up to nab the criminals or not enough man-power ... blah...blah...blah ! There's just too much of these heinous crimes going on and the percentage of "capture" is minimal ! Nobody seems to actually look at the crimes seriously....yes, and all is forgotten once a new and different crime is committed and gives everyone something "new" to talk about ! Remember we all have families too...and as long as they are okay, there's nothing to panic ! Tell me, do you feel "safe" anymore ?
And it still "chills me to the bone" to know that Nurin's killer/killers is/are still walking the streets after more then 100 days and just maybe even part-taking in these and other crimes ! Maybe the only thing safe now to say is the file on Nurin's wanton rape-cum-murder is almost brushed aside, forgotten and/or closed !
God bless and protect all your children......cos we cannot depend or rely on our cops !

I am a marginalised Malaysian !

5 generations on my father's side and 3 generations from my mother's side...surely I am a proud Malaysian with remote roots in India. But even here in Malaysia I've been marginalised, yes, I'm not pissed, but disappointed.... and that's sad !

See, HINDRAF has marginalised me because I am a Catholic and not a Hindu...and the entire march on the 25-11-07 was only to highlight, whether rightly or wrong, the plight and grievances of only the Hindus. Hey, I'm not being a bigot here and I've got many "brudders" who are Hindus , yes and some of my best friends are Hindus too, BUT support and walked I did, on that faithful day with all my Indian brethren of Malaysian origin NOT because of their demands BUT on the constitutional right of every "neglected" citizen to peacefully gather, march or be heard ! Even when the "call" was for all Malaysians of Indians origin !
So you see I have, whether intentionally or otherwise, been side-lined by the very people of my remote origin.......and that hurts !
Perhaps if the organisers of HINDRAF and their leaders had not been so religiously clannish....and had represented all Malaysians of Indian origin, as the "call" had been, be they Hindus, Muslims, Christian, Sikhs and even Zoroaster's in all sincerity and without hidden agendas.....than this posting might not be necessary !

elsewhere.....a section of the multitude at Jalan Ampang...
looking for divine intervention?.......No...at the eye in the sky !
clenched fists....for reform !
their champion, P. Uthayakumar, waves to the crowd.
we want justice...
P. Uthayakumar accompanied by his lawyer M. Manoharan being interviewed by foreign press.
another angle of the interview.....
anywhere to get a better view....
more speeches by the organisers..
calling Gandhi ?.....

the crowd dispersing peacefully towards Jalan Sultan Ismail.
picture taken from atop the monorail station, Jalan Sultan Ismail/Jalan Ampang.
hoisting their champion on their shoulders amid cheers from all around..
peaceful dispersal of the crowd..
close-up of their champion being carried on the crowds shoulders !

Yes, this was indeed a very peaceful gathering of thousands and thousands...( here I would like to keep the figures to myself, cos if I said, say 100 thousand then you'd probably read in the main-stream dailies tomorrow as 2,000 ! ....and I had tele-contacts with witnesses in all 4 points in the city centre ! ) of smiling and happy ethnic Malaysians of Indian origin, who were refused permission as usual, by our faithful men in blue, to hand over any document to the British High Commission of their plight !

I could only be at the Jalan Ampang area where earlier the crowd were fired upon with tear-gas and showered with "stinging" water canons at the junction at KLCC which was out of bounds for all...but the multitude was relentless and over on Astro channel in Al Jazeera(Ch. 513-on going through-out today and read here !) I saw images of arrests and people running helter-skelter from the showers and gas ! That about sums-up the violence for the day........NOT from the marchers but the high-handed and violent behavior on the part of the government claiming "open defiance of the law" !!
A tele-interview by Al Jazeera with SK Devamany (another MIC moron) claimed on the same programme about this country being totally democratic and the ballot box was the answer for all issues....BUT protesting is NOT the Malaysian way...heheheh !!!

My friend Anu aka Galadriel was almost arrested as she made her way from Ampang Hilir, but was released with a tongue-lashing by the cops. She said the crowd on her side was around 10 thousand.....!
Don't take my word for it....cos what you'd read tomorrow will be something else....!
To HINDRAF and all who who took part in this march I say....there is hope yet and peace !
And to be in a democracy means, having the right to peacefully march anywhere in our country !
Cheers to democracy- Malaysian style !
